I emailed the company and they say it allows 8-10 hp gains with mild modifications but a new ECU is advisable for highly modified engines (presumably something like new cams, pistons, etc)
I didnt see a new ecu for our car on the site but it seemed like he was hinting at it. If they let me know of any ecu (for the 2.0l engine specifically) I'll post it here.

This is the email reply I got back from them:
We do have an ecu upgrade available for your application. The ecu
upgrade does require that the factory ecu be sent to us for modification.
You must purchase the upgrade package before sending the ecu to us for
The modification. Suggested retail is $399.00, and the part number is
65002. The ecu upgrades are all done per the application, in other
words, do all the modifications you intend on doing before you get the ecu
upgraded. That way the program can be set up for the specific
modifications. Hp gains would be dependant on the extent of modifications.
Hope that anys some questions. later

the miata and the 3rd gen protege use 2 different motors and possibly ecu's ..
I would not even bother with Jet ..
They don't work on our cars ..
and 400 dollars ... so who will be the first NUT, because when JET gets your money, they are gonna all over you ....
