ARP 'FS' Head Studs

ARP 'FS' Head Studs
I have been working back and forth with ARP and we have spec’ed out some head studs that will work for the 2.0L FS motor in the 93-97 Probe/MX6/626. I have not physically confirmed they work, but all the numbers look good. I assume these will function fine on the Protege FS's as well, as they have the same head casting and block
5.100” 10mm 1.5 Pitch Stud
Stud No. - AM5.10L
$5.16
12pt Nut
Nut No. - 300-8344
$5.43
.120” Washer
Washer No. - 200-8519
$1.37
If you do that math that comes out to $119.60 direct from ARP.
Enjoy

Studs are a replacement for bolts. . . they have several advantages.
1) they are not torque-to-yield like the OE bolts are, so you can reuse them as often as you like, whereas the OE bolts permanently deform after one installation.
2) more clamping force holding the head down. great for FI applications
3) more accurate torque readings because you are not "twisting" the stud, simply tighening a nut, where as a bolt is under tension and torsion during installation. less likely to warp head due to mismatched torque at different locations
4) the studs self-align the gasket and head easing assembly.
5) arp studs also have a much higher yield strength that the stock bolts, again great for FI appliations

quanity is 10
Oh, and since this IS NOT a kit for the FS, just mearly piece parts you do not get directions. Keep the same tightening sequence, but torque to 55ft-lbs the first time. . .
