Auto Tranny Fluid

I was looking at the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual and noticed that no where in the schedules does it mention this need to be changed, except for the service schedule for Chile.

Why doesn't Mazda recommend changing the ATF? That would be like telling me I never need to change the motor oil.

The owner's manual also goes on to list ATF M-V as the recommended tranny fluid in the specifications section. What exactly is this? Is it Dexron V? (I didn't know there was such a thing). I'm assuming it's a Mazda ATF, so does this mean I will run into warranty problems if I use what should be an equivalent?

It's still a long ways off before I have to worry about getting it changed, but it would be nice to know before the time comes.
