Automatic Transmission Problems

Hello!
I've recently became a happy Mazda Familia owner (BJ5W original japanese name) and came upon a problem with the transmission. The auto shifter has the usual P R N D postitions, and it has the S and L positions. Now, the selector doesn't shift into the S and L postitions. Has anyone came upon similar porblems?!

I figure that the tranny is similiar to the one mounted on your engines, although my car (Truly Jap right hand steering wheel car) probably has a different engine to the Protege in europe and US. It's mounted with a ZL-VE 1.5l 130 horspower engine (that is stock).

Anyhow, back to the point. Has anyone came upon a similar problem with the auto tranny as the one I described.

What do you mean the S and L positions? Are you talking about the manual shift mode selection for the automatic?

I'm having a similar problem but for a protege 5, my problem concerns going from drive to park. People from the forums were telling me that it might be a relay or the solenoid in the shifter that might be faulty. All in all its an electrocal problem that must be fixed.
