B&M Short Shifter

I know quite a few of you have this. There is a bit of a backorder on them now but i would like to know what kind of opinions you all have of them. Pros? Cons? I basically want it for the look, the shifter stock in the '02 ES (and P5) is HUGE. Extra performance would be nice too. TIA!

If you're going for the look only then I'd suggest the Kartboy as it is slightly shorter than the B&M. However, the B&M reduces the throw more. I have the B&M and I couldn't be happier with it. It is well made and makes shifting a lot of fun. Throw in a set of Kartboy bushings to round out the upgrade!

well said! I love the b&m w/ the kartboy bushings. However it does look stock heigth but i went w/ b&m for two reasons. Name credability and shorter throw. A must for all pro's try protege5online for it.

YES....get one of these over all the others. if nothing else....its build quality is equaled by NONE. The B&M is a one piece design, none of the others are.

it IS in fact shorter by 1 1/2 inches....the throw is shorter by about 40% Here is a picture of the stocker next to the B&M

It takes about an hour to install and the stock **** will screw right on.

I highly recommend the B&M.

The B & M short shifter is the best addition to my car for the money.

Hmmmm, well here is the thing....i live in Canada....so im not sure if i can get Kartboy.

BUT, the main reason i am getting it is the look....i REALLY want the look of a short shifter......so if Kartboy will give me the look and just not the qualit backing then i might want that.

Plus Kartboy shifter AND bushings is $150 CDN........B&M Shifter only is $200

If all you want is the look of the short shifter, why not just cut your current one? I had actually done this while I was waiting for my B&M to arrive. I had it about 4" shorter than stock. Not only did I remove the extension, but I actually cut the remaining lever with a hacksaw. It looked pretty neat, but I still prefer the B&M for the feel.

At the Oceanside meet I hade the B&M and another person had the kartboy shifter. Everyone was going back an fourth testing each one. The B&M was the tightest shortest shifter. If you want the look and the feel buy the B&M and cut is shorter, and have the best of both worlds. I got mine from Mitch.

I think our Vancouver club is going to have a group buy. You should get in on it Toru, and we could ship it out to you once it comes in.
