The MAT sensor is the little plastic "probe" looking thing... The MAF is the big black thing with the little mesh in it.

Both are required for smooth operation, and jsut sticking the MAT in your filter is NOT the best idea. That's a ghetto intake, and now you're paying for it.

Drill a new hole, plug the other one, and get by. Hope to christ your engine doesn't **** up down the road...

if any of you choose to use acronyms, please use SAE ones.... the air temp sensor is called an IAT.

Okay, I am going to look into the whole exhaust, do you know how much a REAL good one will cost me? And an exhaust. Anyone have any luck with the ebay mufflers or should I go REAL and get it from some where?? Anyone seen a white underbody neon kit?? Do they look good? I have on coming in the mail, and my protege is mica green, hope it looks good.

if you have the $$$$, get the mazdaspeed exhaust. ifnot, get a ebay muffler and goto a muffler shop and do an exhaust there. should run about 100 or so for the new piping and muffler installation

If you want an exhaust, I'd recommend looking into the Racing Beat, SR Motorsports, Thermal, and other such cat-backs. If you want a REAL good exhaust, get the JIC Magic titanium one for the Protege...should run about $975.00 and weighs about 8 lbs. if I remember correctly. A good cat-back should only be $400-450. Get some pics up of your ride if you can, I haven't seen too many green Pros around here.
