Bosal Cat Back Exhaust (3rd Gen)
#2
Hi Chuck, Yes, I have the Bosal cat back exhaust. I'm very impressed with the fit and finish of the system. It might have made a slight improvement in performance, but not enough to be recognizable in seat of the pants driving, IMHO. That doesn't mean it won't maximize the gains you might see in conjunction with other mods though. It is definitely louder than stock. It took a little getting used to at first, but I got to like it. My wife didn't however, so I got the insert that Bosal makes for the muffler to quiet it down. It works great, the same tone, just quieter.

Eric is there any way you would be able to get a soundclip of the bosal. I am considering buyting the catback for my p5 but I dont want it to sound like a POS Civic with a muffler. All wraspy and whiney.

I should have some sound clips in the next week or 2 from a customer that just ordered one up from me so I'll have it available soon. If Eric could still try to get one, that would be great. Eric, if you have a laptop or know someone with a laptop, that would be the easiest way for you to get a sound clip. Just set the laptop to record & have him at the back recording it as you rev it. I dont think these will sound like the hondas since the main reasson the hondas sound like that is because of their engines, not necessarily the exhaust system.

Jeff, Mitch is correct. The engine has a considerable amount to do with what the exhaust sounds like. The Bosal exhaust does not sound like any Hondas I've heard. I do have a laptop, and if I get some time, I'll try recording the sound. I have the exhaust, and I'm extremely pleased with it, so I don't see anyone being disappointed. Since Bosal has the interchangable tip system, and developed an insert to slide in the muffler to quiet the system, I would think everyone should be able to acheive a sound they would be happy with.

DuckieMP3, the bosal cat back is 385.00 shipped in the US. Retail on the system is 500.00. E-mail me if you are interested.
The difference between the CA & the regular is the cats location I believe. The CA version has different set up for emmissions so they have to change the pipes a little (probably shorter since I think the CA pros have an extra cat)

Well, from what I've heard about the racing beat exhaust on the MP3 is all it is is a new muffler. They didnt change teh pipes. The stock pipes on our cars are too small. By changing those, you let your engine breathe better (just like a new intake) and you'll gain power. As to the amount of power. You are probably looking at 6-HP gain over the stock (not sure about with the racing beat muffler) I think the bosal is better than the racing beat but I cant tell you if its worth the money or not.

No. By itself, changing the exhaust system will yield very little gain in HP. Headers would make a more significant difference by themselves. Once you've added several other modifications, the exhaust might be of more benefit.

Thanks guys...Mitch ...i decided to look around local muffler shops and found one that did custom piping... They charged me only $250 which includes 2.25" mandrel bent piping, and an Arospeed stainless steel muffler w/silencer ( of course that came off ) ***ROAR*** really nice roar... much better than stock... It was well worth it...I couldn't wait... thanks again tho... I'll have pics up soon too...
