Burnt Smell??
Today I got a Racing Beat cat back, short shifter and injen CAI installed, all of which are glorious by the by... but I am noticing a sort of burnt smell. I can only smell it at a stop, and it is stronger when I rev the engine. It SEEMS to come from around the shifter, but smelling right by the shifter doesn't really produce anything.
Its a sort of sweet plasticy/greasy sort of smell.
Do you guys think it might just be because they put in new gaskets for the exhaust, or maybe some excess grease from installing the short shifter?
I'm not greatly concerned because if there is a problem, I can just take it in and have them fix it, but if you think it will go away, then I'll just wait and see.

Wait it out. New exhaust system usually come with a plastic coating inside that burns off. It will also change the sound slightly when it is completely gone. I also have the RB system and the sound quieted down, but never had the smell. Also, it is a possibilty you got some of the short shifter grease on the heat shield right by the exhaust pipes. Anyway, enjoy the mods!
