how did you suck in rocks?

 

I had prettty much a CAI setup in my probe.. i guess buying an OBX filter it was cheaply made and put together.. the front metal part actually fell off... leaving most of the filter exposed... i noticed that my intake sounded louder.. i was drivng to my g/f house short highway drive.... so i go and take a look in my engine bay and im like WTF.. i find the metal piece just lying there on the spalshguard thing so i decided to take the whole filter off.. look in the maf.. and see some small rocks probably the size of a pin head that was sucked into the MAF... but not into the enigne... stopped by the screen..

i drove home.. next day.. put everything back to stock.. did an engine flush and oil change right away... car is still running fine. i just hope it didnt do any damage to my engine... havent had a chance to do a compression test but im not noticing any blue or white smoke.. so i think its ok.. id rather keep it there.. that what i think it was there for..

anything else smaller than the holes in the screen shouldnt be as damaging to the internals than something thats larger. right..?

id keep the screen there.. you probably wouldnt notice the difference anyways..
