Clutch replaced under warranty!
#16
Ok another really big deal for the 5 speed owners. I had one of the mazda places here check and there is a write up about our clutch AND flywheels. If you tell them you are experancing chatter they will replace the ALL of it. And NOT with the same kind. I don't know what they are putting in as a replace ment but non the less if you have 25k like I do this is the perfict time to get a new one for free.
The best part for me is that while they have it off I'm gona have them install the new 9lb flywheel I just bought and same me about 450.00 bucks! YEA!!!!

Clutch chatter
Our P5 is chattering now.
Began around 23k.
Service department acknowledges problems, but as above, they don't handle clutch/friction related warranty replacement after 12k.
BUT, I _did_ discover that the Miata has the SAME problem, at the SAME mileage interval, and it _does_ have a TSB doc on it(though I don't have the #)
So, I contacted Mazda USA to look into getting a TSB going for we P5 owners.
No idea on what will happen, nor if they'll fix our wagon.
Considering half the car is a Miata anyway, I'd expect them to get with the program.
The dealership we use noted that the problem was the same as the Miata and will convey that info. to the District Mgr's investigation next week.
Who know?
If nothing happens, well, we may all have to band together . . .
The best thing would be for those experiencing the problem to contact Mazda USA and request their looking into it, but first we should probably pull up the Miata TSB.
To my knowledge it's due to a faulty OEM pressure-plate set-up.
If things are worn prematurely due to this faulty part, then they should be replaced under warranty as well.
We'll see . . .

You might try calling the Georgetown mazda dealer here in Tx. Ask for the Service Manager. When I asked him he said he found something on the list and It called for replacing the clutch FW TOB and the fork. There is only on mazda in Georgetown so it might be worth the call. Ask him where he found the info.
