eBay CAI... which one?
Roddimus you swear by these eBay intakes so much that I've been considering getting one rather than wasting my money on a Injen. You always mention you got it $48 shipped but the only intake i see close to $48 shipped is an SRI. I assume this is what you got. But anywho which eBay CAI should i get or are they all the same and it doesn't matter?

Ok this is NOT the one I had originally seen from the guy I bought mine from. This is a very similar piece though and despite the inflated shipping charge is still a bargain at $63 shipped. I wish mine came with the rubber 90* elbow off the TB. Mine has the ss piping that slightly dings the mastercylinder from time to time. The rubber elbow would be a little nicer to have there.
I also approve of the filter. It's a long cone design with an open inlet on the front. Air wont hit it and peel away from the filter like a mushroom. It'll actually get forced in through that front panel.

it should be VERY easy. I had absolutley no problem installing mine. When I got it in I called a friend of mine who live 10 minutes away to come over to "help/watch". By the time he got there I was almost done. I was just relocating the coolant jug.
If you know a little about cars you should be able to line up which piece goes where based on how it's shaped and any nipples or grommets on the pipe. the Piece with the nipple goes after the 90* elbow on the TB, the rubber hose goes from the nipple to the crankcase, then the MAF will get connected in between the second and thrid pipe with the maf POINTING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, then the last piece needs to have the grommet nearest the MAF since thats where the IAT sensor plugs in.
Other than that it's just hoses and clamps. you'll need to use that metal bracket to secure everything. I bent a 90* about 3/4 down and used a washer and a 10mm nut to hold the bracket to the battery tray. Then I turned it to face the MAF and used another washer and the stock MAF bolt so that the MAF is supported by the battery tray. This also keeps the movement down and is probably why I don't have he rattles that some people get.

just to let you know that intake he linked is a peice of ****. there is a better one for the same price out on ebay. it usually shows blue couplers.
the gray one the TB elbow is too long and rubs the BMC, and they dont include enough couplers if you even plan on using your MAF. which of course.... you need.
so you will end up having to buy 2 extra couplers, and its just not worth the hassel.
look for the one with the correct number of couplers. 3 of them.

hmm, dilema...do I delete all posts by this user because I dont' like him or do I act like a mature responsible moderator and treat him fairly?? Tough call. I'll play it by ear.
The one I linked you to looks fine by me. Uclap5 has a different intake last I checked and I don't know where he's getting his information. Not like it matters though.
Matt03, Powdercoating the plumbing not only looks better but it helps to insulate the intake charge. Also a lighter color works better than a darker color. Just let me know if you want anything done and I can take care of you.

I have a few questions concerning CAIs:
1) Looking under my hood tonight (03' ES), I noticed there is a wire hooked into the airbox -- is this an airbox pressure sensor? Since it will be removed with the installation of a CAI, it won't affect how the car runs in any way, right?
2) Also, the coupler you guys are talking about -- is it to hold those 2 hoses/plug that are mounted to the section of pipe, just before the TB? I don't know what purpose those serve.... Are there any other connections I didn't notice, that I should know about?
3) Do you think it's worth wrapping the piping in heat resistant wrap? If so, what is a good brand of wrap?
4) In what RPM range did you notice the biggest gain? Was there any loss?

got 2 people in socal that have asked me for assistance with the intake with the gray couplers. it is impossible to install without buying new couplers. dont trust me if you want, but it will end up costing you the hassel.

Okay, so I'm one of the gusy who bought the eBay CAI with the grey couplers, although I'm not from SoCal. I was looking at the kit, as I just got it by UPS yesterday, and thinking it is a coupler or two short. So, in this case, where do I buy another couple of couplers? Your help is dearly appreciated.

Yes, here's one for the 2.0L with the blue couplers....the air filter is red....I do like the air filter that came with mine better, but hey....you can always buy a Monsterflow to fit on this. By the way, by the length of this one and the one that I bought, it fits into the round opening, like an Injen!
