scam/junk

I mentioned this a while back. I had wanted to start a "ebay junk fund" and everyone just throws me a few dollars and I purchase the junk off ebay and do before and after dyno's to show what gains if any are to be had.

This idea didn't get very far as the only money I received was my own.

the second one (grounding kit) is almost decent. i don't know how a painted ground plate is going to act as a ground at all, but whatever. sunauto's grounding system using 8 gauge wire produced better fuel economy and freed up a few horsepower on a suzuki aerio as dyno'd by one of those tuner mags. everyone was surprised that it actually worked. people report a smoother idle and less dimming of the lights when your AC kicks on or when you have a stereo system that draws a lot of power.

as for the first one, i doubt it does anything.

I might think about ground wires if/when stereos and electronics becomes my thing. However, I doubt that my performance will increase dramatically enough for me to notice any hp gains just from a grounding kit.

Now...if only I could afford something that really mattered...like a standalone for fuel & timing

do you really need timing control on an NA car?? I think you'd do fine to just lean out that fuel curve and tune for high octane...I've seen 14whp gain just from leaning out the curve on 87 octane!

I've got a ground kit on my car. In theory it is suppose to free up some power and give you better fuel economy and fast start. I have not noticed any additional power as any gained would be too minimal to notice anyways. The biggest gain is that my light don't dim when there is a higher demand on the electrical system and I don't get shocks getting out of my car.

I've looked all over my engine bay and ecu and out of every ground wire I've seen only 2 of them are (IMO) crappy and would warrant replacing.

If I were serious about building the car I'd tear everything out of the engine bay and create my own grounds to the frame/chasis....or directly back to the battery.
