ECU Upgrade???

I have a 2002 Protege ES...no performance upgrades yet...plan to get a short ram intake and maybe the MazdaSpeed Exhaust. What are my options in upgrading my ECU? I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. I heard something about sending it off to AEM or something. Pleaseeeeeeee help.

your best bet is to track down a used MP3 ecu or contact FC3Sboy to see if he can re-flash your stock ECU to mp3 maps. This gives you advanced timing in the upper rpms and should make it pull a little harder.

Other than that, be prepared to spend some money. I can sell you the Haltech fuel computers for unlimited tuning of the fuel system for about $1K with a P&P harness for your car. You may pick up a good 15whp just off fuel tuning with it....
