EGR removal

if i remove it and cap the intake manifold and exhaust manifold, would it cause a CEL?

yes, maybe no power gain but I do feel a power loss or surge sometimes specially when it's hot out

That's not your EGR. The EGR is closed all the time except when you are crusing around at a constant speed, or the car is ideling.
