Extrude honed Intake manifold

I got my manifold back yesterday and Powder coated it then installed it. Install went pretty quick took about 2 1/2 hours to complete. Started it up and it ran funky for a second but no problems after that. No CEL! Seems to have lost a little torque on the low end, but mid - high is noticably better. RPM s are a little lower when idling and at highway speeds but no erractical idling or jumping around...Just as stable as before. I will post pics of manifold and install tomarrow.........Duncan

FYI, when posting pics from image station, be sure to remove the "orig.jpg" from them. You may be able to see them while other's may not.

Like when you get an engine rebuilt and they bore it say .30 over. Or if you do it your self you can hone cylenders with a bottle brush. But in this case you cant get very far with either one so they pump this play dough looking **** through it, and it erodes the inside to the desired "spec" I guess you could say.

You can tell that the new one is a good deal more shiny and smooth in the ports than the old one. I wouldnt guess that youd be able to see inside the damn thing.

and how can I tell a difference with the "smooth ports" in those pics? you could have bought another intake from a junk yard, cleaned it up, and took those pics for all we know

Yup, thats what I did. And that would be really nessacery since my Uncle owns a machine shop. I guess maybe I bought my NX at the junkyard too. I put out alot of money on my cars, too much to skimp on porting a ******* intake. Get a life cheif. And yes, I did take those pics.......with my camera that I bought at a junk yard. LMFAO(at you)............Duncan

Duncan,

Why did you port out the manifold if you don't even have an intake? Sounds kind of pointless...

UHH, okay and red wire loom is an engine mod? Not sure how much home work youve done on intakes. But the HP gain is so minimal not to mention subjective. I have a good ole K&N drop in and because Mazda did a good enouph job on the desighn of the intake to begin with there is really no point in spending near $300 on an ingen set up. So if I dont have an intake , youre saying that there is no point in getting the most out of the air that im already working with? So, should I flow more air into a restrictive manifold. To you it may sound pointless, But ive done it and it makes a big difference. What color is your wire loom again?
