my pro 5 has a G15MR tranny i noticed the G5MR,G25Mr and F25mr have different ratios would switching to one of these add acceleration or top end to my p5. they should fit if i use the G15Mr bellhousing rite. Im asking because i can get any of them for 100 bucks with out the bell. also i dont know to much about ratios someone please reply

Is this a company selling the transmissions/gearsets? Or do you just have connections?

The higher the numeric gear ratio, the quicker you accelerate and the lower your top speed. The transaxles may have slightly different gear ratios, but I believe all manual 3rd gen Proteges used the same final drive gear. Changing individual gears ratios may not be a good idea. The ratios should be matched to the engines power curve for optimum performance.

I have an auto 1999 es, would I be able to have the gear ratios changed for better acceleration. I'm planning on turboing it, would it do n e thing to help my speed?

Its really hard to change gearing on an auto, it would have to be proffesionaly done. And there are no other auto trannys that you could take parts off, whitch makes everything just that much more expensive.

Would you know an estimate of about how expensive? Like hundreds expensive, or thousands expensive?

SR motorsports sells a setup to change your final drive ratio to increase acceleration if this is what you are looking for

Sorry to resuscitate an old thread, but I couldn't find official gear ratios for the 3rd gen 2.0 liter 5 speed tranny in this forum after a search.

None of the car sites have this info either. Does anyone have the gear ratios 1-5 and the final drive?

Thanks much.

I just spent 15 mins searching for "protege faq" and "edwin mann" on this forum. Hahaha! Then it dawned on me that it may be something outside the forum.

Wealth of info at www.protegefaq.net. Thanks again macdaddyslomo!
