I'm not 100% sure about probe header compatibility but eveyone really fancy's either the $230 OBX 4-1 header or the $285 Wagner shorty header.

Both make about the same power while the wagner shorty maintains all emissions equipment.

the obx 4-1 will really enhance your top end pull. I know this from experience. Also, on automatics it seems to raise the topspeed. DaveB uses it on his auto p5 and he claims to have picked up almost 8mph on the top end....I verified this on a very scary ride through the Ohio country side.

According to the FAQ on www.clubprotege.com says that the bosal mx-6/probe will bolt in with some minor modifaction. here is the link http://web2.airmail.net/theman/protegefaq/ . Just get one of the headers that Roddimus said.

Yes, it will fit with 'minor' modification. I've had mine on since 02 with no problems, 'cept for that check engine light (MIL eliminator just arrived, thanks Vielester!) Back when I bought the header there weren't that many things to choose from, partswise! Now there are several headers available for a reasonable price. Do some shopping and see what will work best for you.

Phantom

what kind of "minor" mods did you need to do?

It bolts up to the head just fine. However, the EGR tube does not mate up. We just cut mine and capped it off and plugged it on the header. We also had to have to have a second O2 bung welded and a custom pipe from the header to the cat-back exhaust made. I've needed the MIL eliminator for quite some time...I just got it in the mail! *woot*

I'll try and find a picture...

it's a nice looking header but I don't know if I could do without the fail-safe EGR

Bah! Who needs hot exhaust gas recirculating back into the engine?

Hope you're joking. EGR is purely to reduce NOx emissions - no performance enhancement.

sorry ghweele, EGR is used to recycle exhaust gas into the conbustion chamber to lower combustion chamber temperatures.

spent exhaust gasses contain no combustable gasses (if the first burn is "clean"). By injecting "dead air" into the cylinder you basically shrink the size of the next combistion which in turn helps lower the cylinder temps. This prevents pre-ignition and possible piston/rod destruction.

In a FI vehicle this helps maintain performance......hope this helps.
