Thats so stupid!

I called my dealer and told him a bolt was missing in my engine bay. I set up an appointment and he fixed it in less than five minutes.

It an unimportant bolt, so let the dealership take care of it. You're in no rush.

How in the hell would they know if the bolt came from them or not? I seriously doubt Mazda makes their own bolts, and has their name on them...

I just posted in the other thread about this too.

I'm missing exactly the same bolt!! And while I'm at it, on the pic just slightly above and to the right of the missing bolt, it looks like there could be one missing there too. Is that supposed to be an open hole, or should it be filled with something?

I think that's just an open whole. On mine there isn't any evidence that a bolt is missing. On the other whole, you can see where the head of the bolt left it's mark. It's probably there on account of that piece is used for multiple cars. While we don't need it, some other cars may mount something there.

I finally got them to order the bold in advance. It think I'm going to be ordering those rain gutters so I can fully take my rack off, and I might as well order a box of filters. So when all that's ready, they'll have my bolt in and I can let them put it on for me.

One things for sure. If they break the head off of it... they'll be tapping that som'bitch out of there and putting a new one in till they get it right

See ya tomorrow. I'm charging my camera now... just hope I remember to bring it.

I am thinking that there is a guy on the assyembly line that his only job is putting in THAT bolt....for the SAME bolt is missing from my heat sheild too....and there is no way I am driving 50 miles to the dealer...buring about 3.5 gallons of gas to get a 15 cent OR a $5 bolt....I will get one on my own and install it....and BTW, there is NOWAY that will void ANY part of ANY warrantee.

I was just installing my new CAI filter when I also noticed a bolt missing in my heat shield. WTF. Maybe we should look over the engine for more missing hardware.

wtf? Same bolt missing on my 3-month old P5. And I can tell it used to be there by the outline of the bolt head on the heat shield.

Hey, I was changing my oil last night, and I was giving the engine a cursory look over, and I noticed this bolt missing:

I'm not sure how critical this is, but I've just noticed it, and it's been at least a couple of weeks since I had the hood open... Also, I can't gaurantee that it wasn't missing before that.

I guess what I'm asking is: Am I flirting with death here, or is my car going to be OK until I can get it to the dealer?

Second question: Are there part numbers for bolts? And if so, does anyone know what this one is?

Thanks in advance guys...
Im not missing that bolt, but what is the hole above your missing bolt hole for? In your photo, it doenst have a bolt either. That hole is also empty on my engine, and it has threads on the inside.

ANyone know what that hole is supposed to be?

As posted here earlier, that one above and to the right of the one being discussed here, is supposed to have no bolt. I know it is threaded and all, but it's probably used for engine removal / install.

It has no use to us and is not supposed to be filled with a bolt or anything.

According to the dealers, it's used by the factories when they're casting the engine and that's it.
