Question High Pitched Whine from my P5

I get a high pitched whine from my engine in the 2000-3500 rpm range usually in 3rd and 4th gear with my foot on the gas. If I let go of the gas the whine subsides. It's not too noticeable in dry weather but can get pretty loud when its wet out. The car is stock except for wheels and tires. It's a 5-speed w A/C. it's got ~3500km on it, and I started noticing this after ~2000km.

Any ideas? Anyone else experience this?

It doesn't really sound like a belt and it only happens when the car is moving so its hard to listen under the hood . Sort of a whistling whine. It's hasn't rained in a while so I haven't really heard it lately. Anyways it's kinda weird.
