Igen Cold Air Intake question

If I add this will it bring alot more "Zoom Zoom" to my car, will it bring up accleration? and is it hard to install?

in my opinion the injen race division is the best intake out there. you will notice more zoom and a real nice sound when you open it up. its not real hard to install you can get the instructions from www.protege5online.com and print them up ( i think) but its a real nice mod, and you will be pleased.

If I remember correctly, the Injen CAI will activate the check engine light on the 1.6L. I don't know if Injen has corrected the problem.

Otherwise, you will get a small boost in horsepower and torque. Plus, the engine will rev better in the higher rpms and, as JustinMP3 wrote, the sound is pretty awesome, but only when you step on it. Otherwise, it is pretty quiet while cruising or just accelerating gently. You can see the dyno results for my car (1.8L) here.

the intake is probably the best thing for the 1.6l. exhaust didnt notice ****... but when the intake is on.. you'll notice a big difference. and being the nice guy i am... i wrote up a cool little how-to a couple friggin years ago! about how to do the install on the 1.6. SEARCH! j/k.

If I add this will it void the warrenty??? It dosent matter anyways cause If I ever have to take it abck aim throwing all the stock crap back on anyways....what other upgrades can I do.....has anyone added spark plugs and wires???

as long as you don't suck water into your engine, you will be fine. they can't void your warranty. my dealer told me that after i lowered my car, my suspension's warranty is shot. so if i blow a strut, i'm SOL. but they also told me that the car would run better with a CAI which won't do anything to the powertrain warranty, i just need to be careful around large puddles and floodzones. we have really bad plumbing in tucson, so if it rains, it floods. and you can't get around it. so when it's monsoon season again, i might have to look into a bypass. i just need to see how far down the filter goes in its little cubbie hole.

about water in the engine...it wont happen unless I go puddle jumping or drive in a flood driving threw rain and snow and washing my car it wont happen will it?

after reading through almost all the threads regarding the injen's placement in the little hole there, unless you drive through water that will completely submerge the intake, nothing will happen. also, on top of that, you will have to be on your throttle in order for there to be enough suction created to get the water up to the throttle body. when i get my intake put in, i will know exactly how deep the water can be before i am in trouble. even in tucson, where the roads are ridiculous after a rainstorm, i have rarely seen water go past the middle of my wheels, so unless the whole intake filter is lower than that, nothing will happen, i don't think. but don't take my word for it.

i'm planning on getting a bypass valve for the summer. either that or i can gerry rig the cold air into a short ram just for the summer. who knows. i haven't decided yet since it's not even spring yet and i have no money left. hee hee.

I'm pretty sure the Injen comes with a K&N filter. If not, it's definately a top-notch one.

i actually just installed one about a week ago...it is NOT a k&n, but same style. its a cleanable cone filter. it can be replaced with a k&n, but whats the point? i wouldnt even consider this until it got to the point where it needed cleaned, then i might, just ot be lazy. the filter is an injen filter that goes with their product, they sell high quality goods, so its not crap. so i wouldnt worry about it.

the bypass valve is worth looking into, BUT it kills any and all hp gains you get. i also recently purchased a bypass valve for emergency situations, and it specifically states in the instructions "may decrease horsepower gains" which to me is them admitting what everyone has thought all along. but none the less, i have one, not installed, chillin in my car, in case i ever get caught in a HEAVY rain situation. it should be a 10 min task if i need to. originally i thought about just reverting it into a short ram if i ever needed to, but the effort to get the filter out of the cubby hole just isnt worth it.
snow is not an issue at all, its only the thaw you MAY have to worry about. if you live next to a river that has a tendecy to flood, then i definetly recommend that you put one on as it warms up (ie. in a couple weeks)
washing your car is not an issue, unless you like to hose down the engine compartment A LOT. if you spray water down onto the filter enough while the car is running, once again, you may have a problem, but not enough to worry about.

The bypass valve is not worth looking into. It can be installed in 10 minutes but it involves cutting your intake tube in half. Carrying it around in your car won't help unless you also carry a hacksaw.
