INJEN CAI - water?

has anyone had any problems with an injen cai taking up water? is the splash guard even needed?

I once got an engine setup like you and the filter got dirty from water. I got nervous too so I reverted back to stock now.

Do a search on the topic. The answers will be there.

The Injen intake streteches down into the space in front of the front wheel on the driver's side. It is pretty well enclosed, and a splash of water will not hit the filter. Driving through a deep puddle is a different story.

At any rate, the Injen splash guard will not help. It protects the filter from water hitting it directly, but like I said, the car's bodywork already does that.

are we talking about a 2 inch puddle or a 4-5 in puddle?

I would get an AEM bypass valve and splice it in. It is ok to get a little water in there; it would just cool the intake air. But if it is submerged you could hydrolock your engine. The bypass valve is only $36, worth every penny if it saves your engine.

don't waste your money on the bypass OR the splash guard....neither are needed.

no not even a 4-5 inch deep puddle would ever get to the injen...but if you are the type that would drive your car through standing water that would pour into your door if you opened it....that might be different.....the very bottom of the filter is about a foot off the ground when installed...and you would have to have your engine reved up and the filter nearly 3/4 submerged before you could create enough vaccum to suck in a slug of water.....

I know of ONE person myself that hydrolocked his engine....of course he had his car in a spot where the water ended up at a height of slightly over the top of his HEADLIGHTS!!!! DUH!!!!

AS STATED...don't waste your money. and btw...YES I have an INJEN CAI on my car.

I'm getting the same intake installed, just curious, if it's raining outside and ur splashing through puddles in the dips in the road, then still no worries????

No worries at all. Don't go through water more than 9-12 inches deep though.

well your car is NOT a submarine... EVEN if its yellow... so armed with this knowledge of the ancients you will not need a splash gaurd or a bypass

Once again I'm jumping into something too late!! I've got the Injen and I was happy with it, but then it started raining really hard!! I got real paranoid and got the AEM Bypass and you won't necessarily feel a difference in power. I guess the bypass valve is really for peace of mind.
