Don't worry, the only problems I've been hearing from the Injen intake is from the 1.6ers, not the 2.0 system that you'll be getting. I haven't had any check engine lights or anything, just a slight jerking that will probably go away if I put the stock airbox back in.

The jerking and Check Engine lights seem to afflict the 1.6L engine. Even Injen hasn't figured out why the 1.6L reacts so poorly to their CAI, and I haven't heard many great things about other aftermarket intakes on the 1.6L. However, the 1.8L and 2.0L CAIs work perfectly.

Jerking
thenks NegatIZE I was really worried for a bit there. one other ? do we really need the splash guard for the Pro5 since it goes into the wheel well and that is pretty much full coverage. and also what about that little bypass for in the middle of the pipe.

well, i may be posting this too soon, but i think i've got the jerking problem fixed on my car. this afternoon i took my MAF out and spent about 1/2 an hour cleaning it, so it was spotless. then i reset the ecu, again. then i adjusted the MAF in the injen tube. there is a little bit of movement, so i rotated it till the plug looked parallel to the tube and tightened it down. i took it out for a quick test drive, and it didn't jerk once. i really hope that is all it was.

when i cleaned the MAF this last time, there was no crap to clean. i cleaned it completely last time. and i also reset the ecu last time. i think it just has to do with the position of the MAF. after driving all day, it seems that the problem is lessened, but still there. when i have some time i'll try moving it a little. i'll let you know if that works at all.

ok... i'm gonna give you all a few tips on the injen cai for the 1.6l being i was one of the first to own one before they even hit speed shops. anyway... first issue with the intake, is the filter. it sucks... it lets too much air in. second, next time you're out there, take a spray bottle with water... spray a bit around the MAF sensor where it should contact with the pipe. i bet it sucks the water in like it did on mine. so, this issue would be, vacuum leak. third, the MAF sensor gets really dirty because of the air being let in through the shitty filter. so, dirty sensors. filter, isn't too big of an issue. the main issues are the vacuum leak and the dirty maf. what i did to fix the vacuum leak was go to my local bike shop, ask for a used bike tire, cut it open, clean it out, make a stencil of the maf opening, with a piece of paper, and cut out a seal for the maf so it doesnt leak air in. and, clean the damn maf. ;D that was long, but oh well. i have no hesitation anymore.

I just installed my Injen CAI on my 2000 1.6L and it works great!
Actually runs better and idles alot smoother.
sounds nice and pulls a bit better.
NO check engine light !
first thing I did was open the hood and disconect my Battery.
and then followed instructions.
I also took off my bumper and it made the install alot easier.
Injen actually recomends that U take off the bumper.
now I am just waiting for Cork Sport to finish their catback for the Proto and I am all set

yeh man I have the Auto.
so U think I should just buy the axle back system then get a muffler shop to put 2.5' all the way.
but for under 350 for the full catback that sounds pretty decent
considering it will b just $200 for a good axleback and I assume the cat to axle is gonn be a pretty penny too.
just wondering
lemme know what U think.
