injen rust?

I've heard that the injen cai is prone to rusting inside coz of it being stainless steel and not powder coated as the aem...is this true? ive been thinking of installing an intake and was favoring the injen cai vs the aem short ram until i heard the rusting issues...any info on this???

think about what you just said...the injen prone to rust because it is STAINLESS STEEL ??? Stainless steel is called just that because it isnt supposed to rust. I havent heard of anyone having issues with their Injen rusting, to answer your question.

stellar, what kind of Protege you got??? I've always thought AEM cold air intake was better than INJEN's cold air intake......... oh yea, but about the rust issue, hahahaha.

If you're having trouble maintaing the finish on your intake and you would like something to spruce up your engine bay,....please see my powdercoating thread in the vendor section and leave me a post reminding what you have and want done. I can coat intake to match the bosy or a custom color theme. I can also powdercoat the intake piping "chrome" and re-beadblast the inside of the piping if there is corrosion in it.

Just FYI...I recently removed my Injen intake completely to clean the system and the filter. Inside only one piece of tubing was very minimal oxidation. The Injen is aluminum...not stainless steel. The handful of black specs are harmless to the engine and do not affect performance in the slightest. It had been about 16,000 miles or so. I did not try to use a wire brush or anything to scrape it off, but I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to remove if you're that picky...

Aem is a short ram and Injen has the cold air extension
