Major breakthrough - Engine jerk
After 4 years of living with this problem on my 99 ES, it is finally fixed.
The problem: Engine jolts/jerks when A/C compressor is engaged at idle.
The cause: Leaky intake manifold gasket
Solution: Replaced Gasket.
It took 4 years for Mazda to figure out this!!!!!
Jerry Standefer, u listening? Get your car checked.

a minor leak caused it to jump/jolt.
So my problem diagnosis was RIGHT.
The engine was running weak at idle. But not due to lean mixture, but due to a leakage.
Hey, I am no mechanic. But I was spot on.

we had a lot of 1.8 FS that had intake gasket leaks usually the side of # 2 runner port had been sucked in the gasket problem is known to Mazda and we have had a improved design gasket for about 2 years now.
