Is mazda jerkin me on this issue?

Ok I bought my wife the 1.6 liter DX 01 and it had no cruise so I told the dealer I would only buy it if they installed the pro cruise. They said they would. so after the install I pop the hood and I see a 70 doller after market Pep boys cruise looks like ****. so I ask them what is up and they gave me this run around that they do not put the factory protege cruise on any vehicals that this is what they put on every car that gets a cruise. BS or not BS?
I told them they where full of it and I was going to check into it and Would definatly be BACK

You said it yourself. You asked them to install the OEM version and they didn't. Regardless if they ALWAYS do that on other cars you asked for a specific request. For future consideration get it in writting next time. I would call the mazda 1-800 number for customer service and talk to them about this problem. They generally listen and get something done about it.

Just to clarify, I think the DEALERSHIP is screwing with you...not "Mazda".

I think you have a tough case though...if you have nothing in writing, then you may be SOL.

if you requested the OEM pro cruise and that is NOT what they normally install....THEY should have told you on the spot and NOT installed soemthing else. if the unit is NOT what you wanted....and will not do....insist that they remove it...and do NOT pay a dime for the time they spent installing it or removing it.

I WOULD call mazda and get the straight skinny on whether or not they CAN install the stock unit or not...I personally can not think of a reason why they can't. it may very well be that the dealer you are doing business with has some "deal" with the local pep boys and is getting some sort of kickback.

Jerkin.....

Sounds like a typical sales person line....in fact I've used the ALWAYS line before. It'll be tough, like the post before, if its not in writing....

Like the others recommend call Mazda, but first talk to the manager at that location, then the district manager. Companies respect an individual that tries to go through the established line of authority before they create a big stink about things..... my 2 cents.

I think you should have asked them for something in writing before you even paid them. You should learn to either live with the cheap cruise control or live without cruise control.

If you SPECIFICALLY requested OEM criuse, then they're in the wrong. However, most dealerships generally use AFTERMARKET parts for add-on accessories such as spoilers, cruise, etc... at least, whenever its possible. Case in point: a few months after I bought my '00 Celica GT, I decided I wanted the OEM spoiler added on. I went to the dealer and talked to my salesperson, who gave me the name of some aftermarket shop. He told me that every celica on the lot that had an add-on spoiler was done by this shop b/c they can buy them for less than they can get them from toyota, and still charge toyota price... thereby making a bigger profit. Sick, eh?
