Metric or bust!

Someone refresh my memory... does Canada use the metric measuring system or not?

If it does, then why the f*** does every f***ing place that sells fasteners have such a f***ing s***ty selection of metric parts???

All I want is a 10-1.25 coupler and 10-1.25 threaded rod. If I wanted SAE - no problem!

Even specialty shops like "Bolt Supply Warehouse", "BC Fasteners & Tools" and "General Fasteners" do not have metric parts! No luck at Napa either (oh they sell the parts in SAE, I guess they don't realize that a few cars here and there use metric?).

Anyway, the whole reason for the rant is that I was going to experiment with increasing the height of my short shifter by making an extension (thread coupler onto shifter, thread rod into coupler, thread **** onto rod).

Not while I live in this town, apparently.

It could be because in North America, there are generally more applications for SAE sizes than there are for metric sizes. Generally, anything imported (Asian or European) will be put together using metric fastening systems, and anything domestic will be put together using SAE fasteners. I'm sure there are exceptions, but for the most part, that's the case.

Not true! Brunei hasn't converted either!

I wish the U.S. would convert to metric because it's easier to understand, but hey, that's typical American arrogance for ya. You know the joke about the 400 lb gorilla (or is that a 180 kg gorilla)? Besides, the metric system was invented by the French!
