mods

Ok, so I have been doing so research on modding my future mp5. I have a couple of questions:

1) Which intake is better: INJEN or AEM?
2) Do any of you have any recommendations on exhaust parts?
3) What other mods can you suggest?

I know I want to put rims and tires. I know I want to lower it. But, besides all of that, what else is out there to do?

I got an Ractive inteke, got it from mazda dealer, costed me 150 canadian. Installed it myseld though, they wanted 60 for the install, I told them that's too much and I just bought the intake and went and installed it. Very eazy...Make sure you buy a strong "L" braket from Candia Tire(I got it from there) and mount it on the engine, not the battery case.

i got the InJen Cai (for pix see sig), as for #3 i recommend you change out your crappy stock system for a decent one (HU+Speakers), you can get sway bars also for better handleing to go with your lowering springs, also as "SEA_P5" suggested you can look up autoexe grill's and frontlip, IMO it makes the car look baddass,

Personal Opinion! Try the SEARCH button. You will find anything you can think of.

Lightbulb Reply: Injen CAI or AEM.

RE: Injen or AEM.

I currently have the AEM short ram intake. However be careful about the shops who sell it to you. I originally had the intake from the 1.8 protege, when I have the 2.0. The short ram is the easiest to install and due to it being a short ram intake there is no fear "hydrolocking" your engine. However the Injen cai is a instant performance increase, but at the same time freeing up the engines breathing is most times always a plus.

PS. the AEM intake is cheaper and comes with a liscense plate logo and two stickers! Hoo Rah * SCORE!

ok, I did the search and found the autoexe. I have two other questions. Why would you change your stock sway bar to another? I am assuming for better handling. The other is about lowering my car. If I get some eibach springs and throw them over my stock struts(I think that is how it goes), I would have to change my struts in a year or so?

While you are thinking about that question, I have another. I was doing a search on stereos on this site and I stumbled upon a discussion on intakes. It was done by jmauld. He bought up a interesting point about being screwed out of your money. My question is has anyone gotten a performance increase from these intakes and if so, how much? How would I find out how much?

yeah i did everything myself, the sony deck came with a bracket with those bend out tabs (as do almost all decks) and you bend them out so it sticks to the side plastic, also the cubby hole / 3 jewel case holder helps too

Don't post if you don't know what the **** you are talking about. First off AEM's intake is not a CAI. It is considered a short ram (by them and the industry.) There is a scoop on the gaurds under your car that feeds cool air right onto filter. If there is any heat coming off the exhaust its from the primary cat (we don't have a header, its an exhaust manifold; there is a difference). The Injen intake is pulling air from the fender/wheel well and is just as easy to install. the only difference is that you relocate a resivoir and have to install the filter from off the car (please don't take the bumper cover off as it is an un-needed step). The air may be cooler there, but the flow is not as good. It is a trade off and to be honest the K&N panel filter is as good of an investment as the intake.

Please think before you post. Sorry if I seemed like an *** when I flamed on you after one post, but it pisses me off when people mislead the board members.

azrakain, I didn't know that you are from Hampton. That's cool. I 'm from Virginia Beach, VA. I just graduated from ODU. I was thinking about getting my car in the beach at hall mazda. I'm in OK attending grad school. Thanks for the info on the intake.

Fobia, when I meant "search for autoexec," I meant to do a search of the forum not the entire net. "ARD MP5" or Rishie currently is selling the Autoexec body mods. You might want to send him an email if you are interested.
