motor mounts question
my friend's 3rd gen motor mounts are GONE, cheapest we've seen are urethane for front and rear is $125 from AWR, does anyone know any others?
its a 2001 2.0 ES
when he starts his car, it easily shimmys 4-6inches in both directions and his downpipe keeps breaking easily..
would just getting the fronts be good enough or should all be replaced, front and rear? thanks in advanced

If the car is still under warrenty- Mazda will replace them for free!!! Just take it to the dealer.
All mounts need to be replaced.
I got mine replaced on my 2000 es after 42,000 miles.
Unfortunately, that was after I broke the differential due to the excess wheel hop caused by dead motor mounts.
Get it fixed before it causes more problems.

Could you get your motor mounts replaced with the Mazdaspeed mounts under warranty? Would it be possible just to substitute the regular mounts for the MS mounts?
I wonder if dealers would go for that modification...

I doubt they would give you the MS mount. BTW the ms mounts are the same except for the #3 mount. If they will replace them under warrenty, and he plans on upping the HP in the future i would get the AWR's and ask the dealer to put in the rear mount. The AWR make your car shake pretty bad while idleing.
