Need Headers on ES GT
Good day everybody,
I want to install headers on my Protegé ES GT (2.0) and I'd like your input on models and quality products. What company makes them and a price range if possible.
If some of you had some problems or else with their headers please let me know. I am looking at installing them by end of june.
Thank you.

Run a search no headers. Currently, there aren't really any direct bolt ons available yet. You can modify the OBX probe/mx6 header. There's also AWR who makes the racing headers. Ractive should have some out in 4-6 weeks, but pricing isn't available yet.

There is a company in Cambridge, Ontario. Essential Speed. They have a header for the 2.0L engine and are supposed to be doing a test install and dyno on one of the members from toprotege in the next week.
That will probably end up being the best value for you. I think their design retains the primary cat.

Here's the thread about the Essential Speed header

That and either welding an additional section into the supplied pipe that comes with the header or (bad idea) cutting the header down to make it fit. Dont forget slotting the holes in the flanges to make them mate up. You also need to adapt for the EGR. The placement is completely wrong and the angle is off too. Physically, it does bolt right to the head but you are going to have to do some rigging to make it work.
Maxx - Have you even done this mod or are you benchracing?

I just phone AWR this afternoon. The headers they make eliminates the first cat completely. 4-2-1 design. 304 stainless steel. 495USD. They don't make the mild steel one anymore that was going for 375USD. It won't throw a CEL. It's got the "bungs" for the 2 sensors. They were currently having a fitment problem on their first batch and didnt' line up w/the EGT ports(? forgot ). But they said it's been fixed and anyone can order them now. The latest batch they did was from a template off a 2003 p5. I wasn't sure if there were any differences in the 2002 and 2003 layout, but they were having problems w/ fitment. Seems to be all fixed now. As for gains, they didn't give me any numbers yet. They'll have numbers in a few weeks. I might just go ahead and buy these in a month or so.
