If you have the money to do the TT and engine swap why not just get a 3000GT VR-4? or get a VW GTI and get some work done to the engine by Dahlback racing

3000Gt VR-4 is a bad *** car, but put that engine in a protege. Man that foo might be smoking some good ****.

Hmmm...ok dude..."unsuspecting Eclipses" huh? Riiiiight...I won't doubt the fact that you might smoke a few...but umm...screw it....
Here we go...You wanna go w/a twin Turbo set up correct?
As far as I know (and this is based of of my knowledge of the Supras) the twin turbo setup really is't that great performance wise...before you knock me...hear me out.
The first turbo...the smaller snail only spools up and I believe it quits out around 50-60 mph...then the bigger turbo...which takes it's time to spool up takes over the duties. Correct me if I'm incorrect here...but I'm almost positive...that's how it works. Most ppl are TAKING OUT their turbines and going with the HUGE T-66 or whatever it is and running a wicked nitrous set-up to aid in the car actually gaining speed while that monster spools up. I think it's a waste...I've literally seen jaws drop when my stepdad and I bust peoples ***** with his '89 Supra (single) turbo sleeper...it's amazing how ******* quick that thing is!!! Too bad that ****** tips the scale....if it were any lighter...man o man!
I guess it would be pretty cool to have a TT...but, the functionality of it....just isn't there. Good luck w/the project and keep us posted...I'm interested to see how it turns out.

-Phil

you're mostly right...just incorrect on how the turbo works....

in a true sequential twin turbo the exhaust gas goes into the first turbine and instead of dumping out the wastegate in turn gets pumped into the second turbine....this slowly starts "pre-spooling" the second turbo. What you get is the effect of no lag because you're using two EQUALLY SIZED smaller turbos...you're just spooling them at a different rate.

one is building boost and slowly building the second....by the time the first is maxed out the second is building boost....so you basically take two small turbos and have the effect of a turbo that builds boost from 1500rpms to 8000rpms.

That's why I'm here...to learn from the turbo guru....and you are a turbo guru!

no way man, Im learning stuff all the time. I had to have a few RX7 owners explain it to me before I understood it. I'm only good with building turbos or installing them!

Man, I haven't seen a flame like that since "Backdraft"! Heh.
But seriously, unless you already got that engine sittin' in the back yard and your buddies with Jesse James...Well if you seriously got some change to spend on expensive TT engined Mazdas, why not get an FD?

Hey anyone every see some one actually run sequential Supercharger and Turbo?
Can it actually work???

sequential Supercharger and Turbo sounds like a frankinstein motor

Yeah, I know. By "sequential" I just meant both...I've read about it in Sportcompact Car, etc., like a Toyota MR2 with a Camry V6 swap, TRD roots SC AND a turbo...never actually seen it. The SC would give immediate and proportional boost with (+) manifold pressure, then the turbo kicks in for more power...would it spool up faster? How efficient is it? How would you intercool the twice compressed intake air then...? Intriquing.

Part of you info is incorrect with the MR2, Its only has a camry v6 with a TRD SC. It doesnt have a turbo along with the SC. The guy that owns that car has two MR2's with that swap; one is SC and the other is turbo. I know, i've been researching it, becuz i want to buy an MR2 and do that. MR2 v6

What guy are you referring to? I wrote that I've NEVER SEEN IT. Sports Compactcar said something about possibly dual charging after the MR2/V6 swap how-to back when, and again with project Mini S. I were just curious if it could be done, and why.

I can't wait to boost to 12lbs and race some Protege block parts exploding out ahead of myself!
I'm mod'ing out the hood like a 10second Camaro right now!
RAD!
