New SRI installed, w/ pics! (56k take your time)
Hello everyone!
Thanks to Mazdabel for the SRI intake. This intake is the first upgrade to my Protege since buying it about a month ago. Installed it on Wednesday the 26th.
Everything is smoother now throughout the band, highway driving is much peppier, especially when it comes to passing. Oh and the sound it makes is just awesome. The first time I fired it up I was grinning from ear to ear! I need more time to guage the difference in fuel economy, and If anyone's interested I'll post an update regarding that later.
The clearances in two places (below brake fluid and by radiator hose) are really tight, but I fixed it by bending one of the brackets up to lift the intake up about a 1/2 inch. I'll just have to keep my eye on it to see if it settles down again or stays put. You can see in the pics about the radiator hose. Right now it is just barely touching. So as long as its not putting pressure on it i think I'll be fine. But I'm a total newb a this, so please leave your comments or suggestions.
OK, enough of my rambling! Here are the 5 pics:
This is the stock setup-
Here it is with all stock intake parts removed-
The following 3 pics are the finished product!
