O2 sensor replacement

Hello everyone.
i am here looking for some help. The O2 sensor before the catalyc converter in my 2002 mp5 went bad and is in need of replacement. i called the dealership and they are asking for about $200. then i called every auto parts store and they only have the universal ones (which would involve sutting wires) or the oem fitting ones for more than the dealership. So, my question is, has anyone gone through this problem and what solution did you use? also, if i change 1 of the 2 O2 sensor, should i replace the other? any feedback will be appreciated.
thanks in advance

You don't have to cut any wires for the universal ones. I just put one in the other day. They come with everything you'll need and it's easy like pie.
