Opinions on exhaust

http://www.borla.com/xr1.sportsman.round.mufflers/

What do you guys think of this muffler for a full custom exhaust setup?

Any other suggestions?

Thumbs up

I've been looking into buying a new exhaust system myself. I own a 2003.5 Mazda Speed. So far the best I have found and it was also higly recomended is the Skunk2 Mega Power Exhaust. www.skunk2.com Might want to check that out, they also shoe dyno tests on there site, before and after.

This was an exhaust I was looking at that compares itself to a Borla.

The guy said that it would be around $375 CDN plus the price of an exhaust tip ($50-$100) for installation.

MagnaFlow recently released a 2.25" Cat Back for the MP5. I just had it installed today (Of course, I get the system for cost and the install for free). It sounds a LOT like the MSP exhaust system. It adds some bass and a little rumble off idle, but at cruising speeds you can hardly even tell its there. Its a great system for the angry-bees-in-a-can haters among us.

Magnaflow Exhaust

Here's a link to our product on the site. The only difference between this kit and the one from Thermal is that Thermal polishes every pipe. I'm pretty sure that Magnaflow actually makes the system for Thermal (I might be wrong). I think that this is the best deal on a full stainless steel exhaust system you'll find. According to Magnaflow, the system makes 8.1 horsepower at peak and Magnaflow actually dyno's their product (I've been to their facility - it's only 6 miles from where I work). If enough people are interested, we might be able to give a discount on a group purchase. Either way it's a good deal.

Unfortunately, as we're a business, we can't do that kind of shipping.

Is anyone else interested? We could easily hook up a $400 out the door (including shipping) deal for anyone on the board. Post here and I'll get it rolling. This picture is of the actual exhuast put on my car:

The muffler looks a little ripply because the guy who took the picture was trying to photoshop his reflection off of the muffler.

yah, its not the best looking exhaust..but if it sounds good...

the pipe should go under the control arms and come up
on an angle to the rear bumper...then it'll look good.

wonder how greddy is doing theirs.

It goes in the same place as the stock system, so it looks similar. Major differences are the mandrel bends, the 2.25" piping (much more flow), and the internal design of the resonator and the muffler (straight through design). Also, the muffler mounts much higher and can't be seen from the back of the car like the stock muffler. All you can see is the tip. IMHO it's better to have a stock looking system. No fix-it tickets for me!
