Protege 5 Intake

I am looking for a good Protege 5 cold air intake. Mazdaspeed has an intake available through the dealer, does anyone have this one, or is it like the exhaust and a collaboration with another company like AEM?

Injen is the only company that makes a CAI system for our cars that I have found. AEM makes an intake, however it is a short ram air which still sits in the engine bay. Hoped that helped.

I have the Mazdaspeed exhaust on my Mazdaspeed Protege and it sounds good, not loud, just deep and throuty. I love the sound it makes.

I have the AEM short ram. Installation was easy and the fit and finish is fantastic. I love the sound it makes and you do notice an increase in acceleration and throttle response, just don't expect to be thrown back in the seat as if you just bolted on a turbo. But I think it's worth the money. I looked at both the AEM and the Injen, I think you can't go wrong either way, Both are top quality and made in the USA. I went with the AEM because we get a lot of snow/slush/rain up here and wanted to keep my intake installed all year round. I didn''t want to take a chance on a CAI.

Injen CAI

I have a CAI from Injen and I love it. To be on the safe side I got the AEM bypass valve. Looks and performs great!

Can you post pics of your Mazdaspeed C.A.I.?
I've also got a M.S. muffler and I like the idea of sticking w/ Mazdaspeed. (I heard that the M.S. springs are just eibachs, true? anyone?)

yeah i can do that. As soon as i get my camera back from my friend i will post it for you. I agree with you, i am sticking strictly with mazdaspeed. People always tell me to get other parts, but i am basically going to build a mazdaspeed protege 5 when i am finished. I just need to wait till the turbo for the mazdaspeed protege is up for sale. Yes the springs are a collaboration of eibach and mazdaspeed, specially tuned for the protege 5

Ok now, umm here is an idea, go down to your mazda dealership and go to the parts department. Then you should go ahead and ask for the Mazdaspeed Performance Cold Air Intake, and they will reply by saying "gladly, that will be $260, please" I thank you very much.

I go to my mazda dealership all the time, and I haven't seen any "mazdaspeed performance cold air intake"

in fact, I have looked at the newest parts price book myself which happens to have all the latest accessories listed... IT'S NOT THERE

sounds like you got ripped... they probably slapped on a mazdaspeed sticker on a cone filter

I have the 2002 Mazdaspeed JAPAN catalog... it's NOT THERE
I have info on the 2003 Mazdaspeed JAPAN catalog... which I'm trying to get... it's NOT THERE
I check the Mazdaspeed JAPAN news all the time... it's NOT THERE

the only thing that's even related to "intake" from mazdaspeed is the drop in panel filter

oh and the Mazdaspeed USA catalog ISN'T OUT yet

stop spreading ignorance

its a new 2003 part, they dont have a 2003 parts book yet. You have to ask them about it. Trust me i am not lying to you. Why dont you stop arguing and join the others who are getting mazdaspeed parts. Next time go to the counter and ask like i told you to, and have them show it to you.

you make it sound like I don't check for new things from mazda (didn't I mention that already?), I do... all the time... every week... I talk to the people at MNAO all the time.... guess what, I haven't heard or seen anything about a "cold air intake"
