rActive parts from Mazda

i talked to one of the sales/shop guys from Mazda and they said they could hook my up with an rActive intake and Exaust for $600 CAD, this includes install and all the other BS. i was wondering what kind of a boost this would give me? 1-2HP? and if it was worth it. the description on the showroom protege (which had everything installed) said it was a cold air intake so i opened the hood and lo and behold their was a short ram intake.. i was like WTF.

intake/exaust = $600CAD?

Ractive exhaust?

Can you find out more about that?

The Ractive short ram intake is about $135 for us in Vancouver.
I'm not sure if that includes install.. but install shouldn't be that much and is supposedly easy (i haven't done it myself).

Whoah.. $600.. sounds like a lot but I haven't done any research on exhausts.

Which dealer was this at? I know that when I spoke to Deb at Kramer, she was trying to tell me that a short ram they had on a P5 was a CAI. I think it was a ractive or a monster flow intake.

I think by changing both intake and exhaust, you could expect a little better than 1-2 hp. Jerry Standefer has the injen CAI and posted his dyno results. By only changing the intake, he got about 4-5 hp increase, IIRC.

For both exhaust and intake, including labour, $600 doesn't seem too bad. I had a quote for exhaust from another place and they wanted like $4-500 to install the exhaust.

I got the Ractive Intake and let me tell you, although it's pretty easy to install, its a bitch to make it work perfectly. Firstly, the intake tube rubs against the master brake cylinder, causing vibration when you brake since the brake pedal is connected. The kit provided a bracket which was not pre-bent so I had to bend it myself.

Then it worked fine, for a while, until I found out by pushing the intake too much away with the bracket made the plastic rim on the big *** filter was in contact with the radiator hose, which has thereby made the both the radiator hose and the rim on the intake melt away. You can remedy this by two ways;

1. To bend the bracket less, thereby avoiding the rad hose problem but then getting the brake cylinder problem again.

2. This is the route I'm going, to buy a smaller filter.

Does Ractive even bother to make their aluminum tubing fit better? Or to test out their intake for that matter. All it leaves is less than 1mm of room to work with until problems show up.
I guess what you pay for is what you get.

the Exaust is only a crappy muffler, comes stock with the GT-R package, also i could get altezza's for my car! (400bux) their so ugly, i would rather pay 400 for the stock tail lights back, 400 bux for the rear view mirror w/ temp what a rip off, 2 grand for 17" rims and rubber, alignment, balancing, etc. Zoom zoom stickers 200 bux!!!!!!!!! RIP OFF!

i went to the Mazda on center st. should be a white protege sedan their with all the upgrades (pretty ugly if you ask me)

And the stupid bracket is attached to the plastic base of the stock intake, and when the screws lossen after some driving, the intake vibrates making this farty ricer sound. Got to tighten the screws after some time.

sounds awsome, had that problem with the rubbing but only for an hour, I work in a machine/welding shop, 10 mins and put a stainless steel bracket far better then the crappy flimsey bracket ractive gives you , anyway no rub because the damn intake can't move at all (secure)

I got the GT-R package, $21,000. First thing to go, GT-R Logo. Changed the MonsterFlow filter for a K&N. (Seems more responsive.) I like the muffler though, DTM- kept the silencer on, nice throaty sound.
Do the new ones still come with leather?
