I did a search and didnt find alot. I know protege5online sells some but do yall know of any other distributors? I want some good plugs so if you can help me out with some sites and info id appreciate it. thanks

 

NGK coppers are the way to go. Our cars (and many others) won't like Bosch Platinums or others like that.

 

If you have changed the compression ratio in your engine with different pistons, turbo, or whatnot, you might want different plugs.

And if you absolutely need longer-lasting plugs, then you might want a different kind. But plugs are cheap, and on a 4-cylinder engine, they're easy to change. So why bother with long-lasting ones?

The OEM-spec plugs are probably just fine for your engine. The owner's manual lists several (I think three) brands of plugs along with the manufacturer's part numbers. Any auto parts store can hook you up.

 

Uhhh why? I just put a set of the most expensive Bosch +4 thingies in my car. I havent had any problems. Please elaborate.

 

For whatever reason, Proteges along with the Miata love fresh plugs. Buy NGK BKR5E-11 coppers from the dealer and change every 7000 miles or so.

Make sure you torque to 15 ft-lbs, use never-seize on the threads and di-electric silicone on the top of the plugs. Also, though they come pre-gapped at 1.1 mm, double check the gap before installing. Changing the plugs is a 15 minute job.

7000 miles? Holy **** dude either you're nuts or you sell sparkplugs for a living. Try like 30,000 miles for changin em. And anyway, why the **** did that one dude say platinum is bad?

 

Well the Bosch +4 thingies I bought are platinum and they were only 6 bucks a piece. I din't think thatw as very expensive. But so that aside, I wans't looking for performance out of them (its kinda dumb anyway cause I'm getting some pre-gapped plugs with my turbo kit) but I was just wondering why he was saying that proteges don't like platinum plugs. I mean I would never really expect any kind of performance gain from just a plug, but I was like screw it why not buy the Bosch's.
