Unhappy Shifter install - broken snap ring???!!!!

I was installing my Kartboy stuff today (bushings and shifter). No problems with the bushings but when installing the shifter was a NEGATIVE GHOST RIDER. I was pulling the snap ring together using the two prongs inserted into the two holes when one of the holes broke giving me nothing to pry the ring together. Am I SOL or is there another way?

Has anybody done this before???

You can try using a flathead screwdriver or even just put the side with the broken pin hole in first and work the other side in. I just put my B&M in, and found it pretty easy provided you have a pair of snap ring pliers. Good luck.

although it would probably work....I would suggest getting another snap ring. its the RIGHT thing to do. and NO you don't have to go to a dealer for one....take the broken one with you so you can compare to the new and go to some good autoparts houses...if you have one that has a machine shop...that would be your best bet.
