Unhappy Is the "SPORT EXAUST" for the MP5 really loud??????

I heard sound clips (Maxx Mazda) and read everything on the exaust...But the thing is how does it sound when your doing between 70-80mph. I have 45min drives during the week, and often have to go to Dallas (8hr drive). So i just want to know if anyone can let me know how loud it is, and if it gets to be annoying at these speeds. I really want the exaust but if the "noise level" is as bad as some say i might not. So if you have the exaust please let me know how it sounds at these speeds and if you recommend me buying it in my situation....Thanx ....

ohh and everything is stock too so no intake yet..

YES it is loud.

as a matter of fact, at around 3000rpm (~70mph), there's this resonance droning that goes through into the cabin, and it does become annoying.

that said, it only gets that loud if you're stepping into the gas pedal and holding it there. If you lay it off a little bit and cruise once you're up to speed, noise level/resonance become much more tolerable.

Have you ever had a loud car? If you've never had one (like myself) the resonance in the cabin may overshadow the cool exhaust sound.... In my case I'm keeping it because the exhaust sound I LIKE!

If you are debating this, then I would say dont get it. I have one, but I went on a 3 hour drive last weekend and wanted to kill myself. Its loud, which is what you would expect, but for hours on end its really annoying. And since you mentionned you often go to Dallas(8 hour drive you say), I would suggest you spend your money on other more worthwhile mods. Like an air intake or maybe some springs.

I like my MS muffler for everyday use, but when it come to long trips... Id rather have a silent stock muffler.

Thats my 2cents

I don't have an exaust yet, so I wouldn't know if this would work. If it is just an axle back exaust, couldn't you just switch out to stock for longer drives? Would this work?

you could, but you'll need to buy a new gasket every time you swap them, and maybe new nuts to bolt down the pipes if they are worn out....

What? Did you say something? The car is idling and I can't hear a damn thing.

I've done this a couple times and it's one solution, but we're hoping for a better solution soon... I like the MazdaSpeed's look and tone, but it's just too loud for my taste when it comes to any extended travel.

What exhaust is on the MP3? Is it the same as this exhaust as this Mazda Speed you are talking about? If so, I can't imagine Mazda would sell a car that is really loud. If it is not the same and is not that loud is it possible to get the MP3 exhaust for the P5?

The MP3 exhaust is supplied by Racing Beat. The MazdaSpeed (or Mazda Sport Exhaust) I understand is supplied by Bosal. Two different exhaust systems. I suppose you could adapt the MP3 exhaust with a "cut & weld" installation, or order the cat-back system directly from Racing Beat for the P5.

regardless if it is made for Mazda or not. Its loud, if you prefer low noise, stick with the stock moffler.
