SR20 Engine Swap..... wowwiee

well, as some of you know, im a pretty big fan of the SR20 series of engines that nissan makes/made.... my se-r has the plain old SR20DE in it...
anyways.... a guy on the sr20 board has a p5 also (as i do), and was doing some measuring and engine fitting work, and the result: the engine mounts are in the same spots as a sr20, and the engine bay would accomidate the engine quite well.

so what im thinkin, heck with a FS-ZE for my p5 next summer, do a Bluebird Nissan SR20DE-T swap....... 250+hp would be nice

but who knows how well this would work, just a cool idea... what do you guys think?

welll from what i know, putting the engine in should be easy.... and there is more than enough room.... only problems would be getting it to run (ecu stuff)

hell i dunno, i have no clue what id be doing though

the motor mounts are only the begining....how about the bell housing? the flywheel? there are a FEW critical things there....as can or will it bolt up to the tranny...and IF it will....do the motor mounts fit NOW? if all those answers are yes....you will be a happy camper....but I have a bad feeling.

get a tec3 and the stock wiring harness and you won't have to worry about wirring for the sr20det. use the sr20det transmission and then have custom axels made. It can be done easily though (assuming the engine mounts are the same).

Thumbs up

The SR20 engines are great. They are like the BPs from Mazda. They can withstand a lot of power without blowing anything. I say go for it! You can do just about anything with enough money.

yeah, i really love this engine, if you drive one you'd understand too...

about the sr20det, it is available in rear and front wheel drive... you could swap it into pretty much any sentra/200sx/nx out there, yeaahhh baby...
but ive been told that it can with stand 500+hp with minor upgrades..... 250-300 is pretty easy to do

wrx? nah....lol

While you're at it, why don't you go with the AWD version of the SR20DET.

lol more work more work...... the regular DET or just a SR20DE would require much less work overall

Andrew,

How many times have I told you to keep your Nissan bullsh*t off this board? LOL!

Sounds like an interesting swap for sure! So, I have to ask, and you're expected to confess: Do you or do you not drive the Sentra more than your beloved P5?

I'd probably drive the Sentra more... (Hell, 200HP!) But you still can't beat the looks of the P5.

ICQ me sometime, we haven't talked forever!

Nick
