Start-up Valve train rattle

Start-up Valve train rattle
Problem: Trying out various oversized oil filters on my 2003.5 P5. Even with quality filters with good antidrainback valves, the darn things leak down (at various rates) and frequently leave me with an ominous sounding start-up rattle(one LONG second). Even the small (factory V-6) filter had sporadic rattle, and even with quiet starts usually have 5 to 7 seconds of faint valve train noise until I get full oil flow. About the only one I haven't had problems with is the teeny M1-110. My short term solution has been to floor the gas before starting to kill the injector flow, then crank a few seconds to prime things and let off while still cranking. It works, but it's not good. Will change back to a teeny filter ASAP, cuz rattles are worse than small filters, but...
#1. Who's the engineer who signed off on an UPWARD tilted filter? I want to smack him in the head. Very, very hard.
#2. Does anyone else have this problem, or might I have a questionable oil pump that allows too-rapid leakdown?
#3. If I'm SOL on using larger filters, does anyone know of an INEXPENSIVE pre-oiler setup?
Thanks ahead of time to one and all.

well i kinda know what you mean because for one i have the same start up issues, and my moms 90 probe did the same exact thing, the only thing that i noticed was, the rattle at start up would go away after an oil change then come back almost 2 weeks later. better to be a valve train than a lower end knock.
that would almost always happen when ever i changed the oil in a 5.0 ford it would knock every time at first start up right after an oil change then go away after a few seconds. and it would be difficult to prime the filter, because the filter is located horizontaly but for some reason or another it would never do it to a 5.0 HO motor ie: mustang, licoln LSC

Open letter for the Moderator:
SNracing; olddognewtrks here. There was a glitch somewhere in the system at that time (Dec 5 to Dec 7). FWIW, I have since deleted the cookies at my end; now I log in OK. Not sure how/why I popped up under your log in.
Be advised I have emailed both Roddimus Prime and 'To Whom It May Concern' regarding this whole mess. I have politely detailed what happened, and asked that my initial heads up (Hey Administrator....) and Roddimus Prime's response be deleted. I had also hoped, but not specifically asked, that someone could fix the log in name. Maybe you can get some results. Good Luck.
Sincerely, olddognewtrks
