Stiff tranny when warmed up...please read
I know some you are going to say: "do a damn search!", I did I only found posts about trannies being stiff when the car is cold, it's the opossite in my case. When I start the car in the morning the tranny is silky smooth (except for putting in reverse, sometimes) the shifts are firm and precise; not stiff, but as the car starts to warm up the tranny starts to get more and more stiff and some of the shifts become kind of hard to do, specially 4th gear.
When I'm driving on the highway on 5th and I'm downshifting to 4th sometimes it feels like it doesn't want to go back in, I sort of move aroung in neutral and try again and it goes in with a litle effort, no grinding though.
I recently instaled the kartboy SS and bushings combo, I'm shure that this happened before I installed them but because of the longer shifter and the stock bushings it wasn't very apparent.
How can I fix this? perhaps using syntethic oil for my tranny?
Thanx.

ok first off, when you install a short shifter, you are moving the fulcrom and its going to cause more work to get it into gear, its not damaging the tranny, its just you are creating alot more work for you. its like a ramp, the steeper the incline, the harder it is to push something up it, but the short you have to go.(if you know this already, then just pretend i'm not talking to you) also did you use a torque wrench on the bushings?? if believe its 20 lbs that is supposed to be used. if you over tighten it, then it will hard to shift. also how cold is it there?? i live in tx and when i got the ice storm, my car has the stock shift and bushings and i could hardley move the shifter in nuetral b/c the bushings were frozen and the fluid in the tranny was cold.

Temperature is not an issue here, it's usually about 28 °C all day, around 15 °C at night, tops.
I didn't use a torque wrench, just a regular one. I don't think I've ever used one of those , do you have a picture of what they look like? (english is not my first language)
The thing is that when the car is cold the shifts are incredibly smooth, but it gets stiffer after it gets all warmed up.

for english not being your first langauge, your pretty darn good at it. neways
a typical torque wrench is a BIG lond rachet, usually around 2 ft long atleast and it has a little needle on it and when you start appling presure the needle moves and show you much torque you are usuing. a good estime on the bushings is tightened it up until it starts requiring alot of torque, the give it a slight snug and that should be good. as far at shifting easy when cold and stiffer when warm, i don't know. is it grinding at all?? also the way syncro's work is when you take it out of gear, they match the speed of the gear of what you want to put it in, and it takes a moment. thats why shift from 1st to 2nd when racing is sometimes difficult without slamming it hard. so that might be why its stiff aswell. but if you can switch to synthedic and see if that helps. i would switch even if thats not the problemthe second pic is designed for a bicycle, the one i have is a rachet, not a set of vice grips

I've never seen one of those things, most mechanics around here will probably go when I ask them for one.
Ill try changing the oil, what brands/type do you recomend?
My car is a .6l btw, I don't think it matters though.
