(Urgent) Possible Ram Air Intake????
Hey Everyone,
I think there is a way to make a true ram air intake on the 2.0L 99' and up pro5.
While looking into the engine bay at my AEM short intake filter, I noticed there is an air intake scoop already manufactured into the plastic piece just below the filter; that's right, it is already there and ready to use!
Now, of course you all probably already know this, but here is where I need help. I was trying to think of a way to lay a piece of plastic down there in order to redirect the air into the engine compartment and blow it right at the AEM filter, when I notice something interesting....there are already screw holes around the scoop!!!!!!!!!
I'm not for certain, but I wonder if the pro5 Japan has the plastic piece attached in order to take advantage of the air going under the car????
I'm wondering if there is already a piece made to fit this air scoop that is already there!!!!
Maybe someone with a buddy at a dealership can have them look in the Japan model parts list for this scoop...who knows, maybe the 140HP pro5 has this scoop in place and operable.
Let me know what you think,
Thanks,
Eric...

No, I am talking about having the entire stock air intake out and then looking down into the bottom of the engine bay just below of the manual tranmission.
There is a plastic "skirt" on the bottom of the engine bay and it has a slot that open toward the from of the car with a slot that looks like a mini air scoop....all it needs is a plastic piece attached to it and it FORCE fresh clod air straight into the engine compartment.
If you are using a short ram intake then the filter would get blasted with fresh air!!!!!
Thanks

Ok Guys,
I do not have a digital camera and therefore am unable to take pics....
This scoop is really not that hard to find if you just get down and look from the front of your car toward the rear....
Look about midway b/t the center of the car and the out edge of the airdam....
You will be looking on the driver's side...
The scoop will be about 2.5 feet from the front of the airdam (in the midway point) and will lie about 6 inchs anterior to the transmission...
You can see it from underneath or from the engine bay, if you have removed all the old air intake garbage.
Now I do not know, but maybe this is only found on the 2003 model??????
Thanks,
Eric....

I only wrote urgent b/c I was so excited about finding something new and wanted to share it with others...
Anyway, as I understand it, a few degree diff will increase power....however, if air is being rammed up into the engine bay, I think the reduction in temp may be more than a "few" degrees...
Thanks!

I know what scoop you are talking about. I have seen it numerous times while changing my oil.
As far as some part to put there, go for it, I don't know if it'll help all that much, but try it if you want to.
I thought that hole was there to put cooler air in the bottom of the engine compartment anyway to help keep the tranny cooler, etc...
