V6 in a Pro5?

V6 in a Pro5?
I read somewhere that Pro5's in Australia or somewhere have a V6 option. Is this true? If anyone knows, is this the 2.5 from the MX-3 and MX-6? KL-ZE I think. If so, would it be a direct bolt-in? I would rather pay 3 grand for a six cylinder than a turbo,(horsepower for the V6 is 200 I think, pretty much the same gain as a turbo), then save more money and turbo the 6(although I hear the 2.5 cant hold alot of boost). Any help is appreciated.

I doubt that a V-6 will bolt in to the BJ-chassis Protege due to changes made during the 1999 redesign. Actually, V-6's will not fit in a BH-chassis Pro either because of inadequate firewall clearance (the MX-3 used a different firewall). If you want power for your P5, you're better off looking at turbos than V-6's.

Oh well, turbo it is then...not that thats a bad thing Actually, I think I am gonna keep it NA. Just get the J-Spec cams and a CAI, headers, and a good cat-back. If I do go the NA route, is there anything else I can do for power; that wont cost an arm and a leg.

pistons
get higher compression pistons, they should be good for about 20hp, but it wont be a cheap mod. people on the board have done it and as far as i know it would cost a lil over 1000 to get it done. Also the ecu in our cars kills power and replacing it with Haltech E6K or Greddy Emanage or some other fuel management will also yeild some pretty big hp gains. hope that helps.

you would not get full hp gains from the high compression pistons with out some kind of ECU upgrade. I don't think the ECU would fully recognize the increase in compression You could install the pistons yourself to save money. If you don't know how, save the money for a turbo. It would be much more cost affective
