1/4 mile is not the only thing that counts, You would worry more about 30-50 and 50-70 mph surges in real world driving more than 1/4 mile times. Motor Trend cranked out a 8.6 sec. sprint to 60 and a 16.8 sec qt. mile in a 5sp. p5. That is not that bad, but nothing amazing

From Car & Driver's small wagon test (Which the P5 won), the Suzuki Aerio did 0-60 in 8.5 sec and the 1/4 mile in 16.8. The P5 did 9.2/17.2 although Motor Trend got a P5 to do 0-60 in the mid 8's.
A Civic Si (current hatch model) does 0-60 in the low 8's. Expect the EX to be a little slower since it has less torque (1.7L vs 2.0L for the Si).

I have seen in some magazines run an 02 Si in the low to mid 7's to 60 and mid 15's 1/4 mile. The top end power will not be as noticable with the newer i-vtec 2.0L in the Si as it was in a wailing B-16

Protege guy,
Read your original log in agreement. We are much more sophisticated then to call people " Tards". You said so yourself, that you did not know if he had a stick or auto, yet you think that because you raced him in a parking lot, that you are a parking lot KING!!! Real people don't post such foolishniss here. They post real "STRIP" times, not grandma's backyard times. And you calling me a TARD!!! Yu so funY

hey space dude
that is a 96 try to find a pic of a 95 wagon such as this, it woould look closer to your p5
here is a url http://home.swipnet.se/danny/history5.htm
That 96 pic is very nice, it looks exactly like the one I sold to get my 2001 es, The saab was a very nice car (and ahead of its time) I had koni shocks and a sport steering wheel.
The really cool thing was the freewheeling transmission, if you dont know what that is, think about a bike, if you were driving down the freeway and took your foot off the gas the engine would drop to an idle and the car would keep going, also wou could shift without using the clutch except from a dead stop. (yes I can do it on the mazda too but you have to match rpms and it is not good for it) and i miss my little white saab alot, since it was much more fun to drive than the protege, and all of the chicks liked it too.
