They are still mesh, just all silver/black now.

Forced Induction racing has a Turbo kit for the spec that'll put 275 to the wheels, on stock internals.
Travis has not ever dyno'd one of these kits nor is he finished with one. The numbers are pure speculation.

But I stand by the fact that I think the MSP engine is near it's max potential (in terms of boosting) without getting iron sleeves, or stronger rods and pistons.
The engine is no where near its max potential, the tranny is the only limited piece in the puzzle, they strengthened everything else. (clutch, lsd, axles)

The boost is limited to 6.9 Psi so you don't blow the engine (which means that the engine must not beable to take much more boost than that)
I think it would take more than 15psi with proper tuning. People don't realize that you can't just turn the boost up on stock cars like this, that is where engine problems occur. Tune it and you'll see 15psi.

You won't go wrong no matter which one you choose Because it'll be YOUR car, and it's what YOU chose, so you'll be happy no matter of the outcome
Exactly.

Stuck in MR2 land again...

As far as the Spec-V goes, I'll say this, the 03 looks much more appealing than the 02. The new interior is much much nicer and the improved gear box is a plus. The only things I don't like about the Spec-V is the guages, and the solid beam rear end. That said, if I needed a new car RIGHT NOW, I think I would get a Spec-V, no options. If I could wait, I'd wait for the new Mazda3, like the Mazdaspeed version.

Also, there's no need for a 6 speed mated to an engine that has wide powerband. 6 speed is just to sucker in people because it has "more speeds!". Go check out the Miata for a good example.

Acctually according to Car&Driver the boost on the MSP is 6.9 psi, and the 6 speed isn't a gimmic, it's quite useless on the 1/4 mile I agree you gotta shift more, but when it comes to autocrossing, it's good to beable to keep in the "higher" rpms (the spec v has a rev limiter at 6200 rpm)

ok everyone my final decision has been made and the down payment is final. i went to the nissan dealer today and ordered a bone stock black 03 SE-R. I test drove the Spec-V and the gears grind at high rpms going from 2nd - 3rd. the only reason i was considering the V is because of the limited slip but not worth 2K. Another downfall is the 10 HP gain between the SE-R and the V is due to an exhaust swap!!!! How gay is that!!! Not to mention the 10HP is over rated to begin with. I sold my 02 Protege to my best friend so i will still enjoy reading posts here!!! Thanks for all the input.

So long, sucker!!!!

(former 9 3/4 year owner of a true late, (very) great 1st generation SE-R)
*Protegé performance goal= to make my 'gé just as fast as my old SE-R....

SE-R's have just lost it in the taste realm for me lately. Just too many silly design decisions.
Nissan= former great company-----> gone cuckoo.

that's false info...
the 10 hp is partly the ecu and the intake...mostly the ecu though...

You can check the part numbers, the exhaust is diffrent...but the intake manifolds are diffrent.

Once again.... the car is made to turn. The Spec V is very worth it for the reason that you get the tuned suspension, larger and better looking wheels, LSD,Beefier Clutch, 6 speed, nice interior, and higher power output. For $2000 I'd like to see you come up with that.

Enjoy your SE-R, they are still decently fun to drive.
