02 P5 shakes a little in neutral

I have an 02 protege5 and I'm having a little problem. When I put my car into neutral it shakes a little more than it used to. (it's manual by the way) When in neutral the rpms are pretty steady at 1/2 to 3/4 of an rpm, but sometimes they jump to about 1 1/2 and the car shakes a little and it goes back down. Why does it do this? Also, even when I turn the fan to 0 and put the a/c off, air still blows a little. I think this is normal, but i just want to double check. I just put it on defrost so I don't get the air.

thanks

Clean your EGR valve and report back to us at that time. This is a pretty notorious problem on our cars and what you're explaining sounds just like it. Here is a How-To on cleaning the EGR valve.

Well our cars blow a little at all times (no pun intended) even when the fan setting is on 0. Also, if you have the **** set to blow on either the window or window/feet setting your A/C compressor will turn on automatically even though the A/C light does not come on. You can't turn it off either, but it can be disabled. Here is how to do that as well.
