03 Protege 5 oil filter swap

for some reason i was under the impression that you could switch out your 03 pro5 oil filter with another cars oil filter that was significantly larger....
----i cant find that info anywhere....does anyone know what the hell im talking about or did i just make it up

Nope, you heard right.
Get the one for an 2002 626 with a V6.

Or just get the Motorcraft FL-821. Ford used a bigger filter on the 2.0 I-4 and 2.5 V-6 in the Probe. You will find that many noted engine builders recomend the a Motorcraft filter.
