1/4 mile times

My friend has a '94 hatchback M/T with intake and headers and is running under 13 secs. He wants to race me to see how fast my car is ('03 MP5 silver A/T no mod yet) , but i want to do some upgrades so my car doesnt seem slow. Can you please post up some times you guys have and the upgrades you have in your car to get those times. Thanks

The '94 hatchback is a good 400-500lbs lighter than your P5. I don't think you'll ever see 13 seconds without cutting off the roof and swapping out the motor. Seriously, you can do the CAI and cat-back to gain some midrange poop and better thorttle response, and don't get really huge wheels and tires (=taller gearing/heavy weight) but it's really apples and oranges.

What time will I be able to get with no upgrades? What time will I be able to get if I had a CAI, cat-back, and headers?

mid-high 16s stock...with some bolt-ons you might see some high 15s if you are lucky...

Isn't this the same guy who wanted to know where the spark plugs were? Just be careful--moding is fun but it can get "not fun" fast if you &#$% something up. And to answer your question...
The only way to get a protege wagon to an under 15 sec quarter is to festoon it with as much go fast wowee gear as you can... the more body tach-ons, spoilers and stereo equipment the better... and don't forget a set of big ol'-heavy-chromed-out-DUBS.

yeah, you can talk to tri-point and buy one of their race motors, that'll get you under 15secs...problem is low reliability...engine is too high stress to last...or you could probably get that low if you get j-spec cams...fs-ze intake manifold, port and polish the head, adjustable cam gears,intake,header,cat-back exhaust, high compression pistons....then completely tub out the interior..that should get you under 15's without turbo....which one sounds more attractive and cost effective though?

hey i got me a question, im driving a 2001 pro lx sedan, i've got a short intake, what kind of 1/4 might i get? also, how much does an upgrade ecu/exhaust help out power-wise? the reason im asking is because i want to take my car to the track this summer, but i dont want to be embarrassed.

anyone selling a mazdaspeed/racing beat muffler they don't need that is made for this car?

and last but not least, is there a turbo one can get for it?

I stand corrected--turns out the only way to get a 15 second quarter mile if you own a Protege5... is to sell it and put the money towards a used 1st gen miata and bolt on turbo kit.
