Why overanalyze this? The corrolla makes more power than the protege....big deal...nobody really cares anyway....two economy cars...both slow.......

I didn't say I expected the Protege to be faster than the Corolla, etc. I know it is. What I was trying to get at is the possibility if Mazda would play these tricks again. If it is, then it's false advertising and they should give us some compensation of some sort.

The Carolla is faster
I knew I saw it somewhere. I don't think this is where I saw it but it says it. Even though we finished first in Car and Driver, it clearly says that the Carolla is faster. Just read under the Carolla.
I've actually seen numbers posted, but this is all I could find for now.

I would think it safe to assume that the vast majority of Mazda owners are looking for a cheap, reliable car and could care less if the HP is what it is supposed to be.
My car is supposed to have 122 hp? Does it? It is geared really low, so who knows? Im used to driving cars with a lot more power, so it could have 90 HP and I wouldnt be able to tell the difference.

I would say most cars making 300-400 Hp are fast, especially light weight cars like the ones you mentioned.
135 HP is a slow car, period. Maybe it can make turns fast, and runs good on a track where you have to make a lot of truns, but its slow in my book.
16.0 in the 1/4 mile is extremely slow.
I think any car running low 13's on street tires or faster is fast.

Still, its not a matter of whether the Protege5 is fast or slow etc, and 300-400hp cars overpower it. I don't care about that. The issue here is professional ethics, it they advertised that it has 130hp and it really doesn't its called false advertising. And it hurts both customers and the company alike.
How many times do I have to explain stuff sometimes?

It doesnt hurt me, and Im a customer. I dont care how much HP my Protege has. If I wanted a lot of horsepower, I wouldnt have bought a protege in the first place. There are two points of view to this, and that is mine.
I can understand your concern though, but Im not sure there is much you can do.
In the Ford Cobra incident, many people tune Cobras and therefore many people had them dynoed. Along with the huge magazine market and publicity that the mustang gets, word got out that the cars were underpowered, and Ford decided to correct it and recalled all the cars.
If the Protege is underpowered to what it is supposed to be, and it very well may be, youll have to have proof and publicity to get Mazda to act.
Good luck.
