Question 15000 mile car maintence

Okay, lately when I began going to the dealer for oil change etc...
and fixing stuff under warranty, they keep bugging me
to do the car maintence stuff
I mean, I see the importance but man, it is like $200+
you know, that is alot of money, dunno, should
I do it, do you guys do it or not?

Is it important or not?

Any help/advice will be welcome
thanks in advance!

hey, I'm about to take my car for the 15k check up. After that I am not going to take my car back there anymore. Honest to GOD I do not trust them at Mazda. They put cheap oil in the car, and they try n charge me for ridiculous stuff. " Which I don't get under them. After this check up, I'm going to start hookin up my car so, the hell wit them. If I was you, do the check up and later on down the road don't go back if u don't feel comfortable with them. I know I won't with mines.

Tell me about it
Last time I was there, there was a lady (old) with a protege, green color car. She had it serviced, and when the driver came out with it, there was this huge dent with yellow color on it. suprisingly, the column of the exit if the shop was yellow in color. the driver tried to deny it, but the manager promised her to repair it. I am freaked as **** to take my car there, and they way they drive it and just think as if it is a freeby car to them

Okay, I will take it down there, one last time, and then that is it with it.

p.s. where in VA are you in?

proper maintenance on a car will ensure longer life of the car. if you don't want to go through the dealer, then do it yourself. but in any case, whatever needs to be changed at 15K miles should be changed. it's like oil changes... if you don't do it at every 3K miles, the longevity of your engine will decrease. why risk it? spend a few hundred now rather than a few thousand later to fix what you could have prevented. just my thoughts.

what items are due at 15,000 miles?
i don't think anything is due for replacement or lubrication.

sorry, i just checked the manual (yes, i RTFM), and there isn't anything that needs to be replaced. just change your oil, rotate your tires, inspect all your fluids, and you are good to go. what did the dealer say you have to replace or service that will cost you $200? that's insane! oh yeah, lubricate all your hinges and make sure all your bulbs are functioning.

I don't know about pro00 but I need to replace my air filter and rotate my tires. I'm kinda 3k mies past rotating them. But I recently got paid so I will get that situated. Recently the Mazda mechanic said since I kept using 10w - 30 I will be creating a future problem to my engine. He said since it is a stronger oil fuild that I would be causing sluggish and a bunch of other mess to clog up my engine. Is this true? In the manual it even said it was ok to use 10w - 30. And check this out, these idiots even tried to say I was wrong when I told them that I could use 5w- 30. they tried to put sum 5w - 20 in my damn car!!!! Am I wrong or are these @$$ Holes @#$% with me.????

Whatever the manual says, do it. Your engine WONT be sluggish...that is BS. As for them saying 5W20? never even knew that existed. I guess it comes down to your climate... but with thses guys, I would call Mazda head office and complain.Just so they know what kind of dealers are out there. Here in Edmonton I only trust mine.... but I guess it is a matter of opinion. You cant please everybody.

my car has 18000 miles....
I've had regular oil changes and I've only done one minor inspection as the dealers call it. (at 7500 miles).... which only included a tire rotation, oil change and somthing minor.... forgot what... it was like 45bucks.... didn't really feel like I was getting ripped off...... cause oil change = 20 and tire rotation was like 15...

another dealer said I should do the 15000 intermediate service... told me is was like 200 bucks... I was like thinking, F you..... went home to look at the manual and it says that nothing needs to be replaced until like 30000 miles.... (apart from the regular oil change and tire rotation).....

so my suggestion is .... don't do it......

but I think you should replace your air filter though.... I will have mine replaced soon with K&N panel....

Oh, don't worry, I got the K&N filter long time ago
those filters rock

I decided to go ahead and do the service, yeah
it seems like nothing needs to be changed

I keep good care of my car, always doing the oil change and the stuff like that

as some of you guys said, few hundred here, would save a few thousand, but the regularity of the checkup is alot, I am thinking of skipping some.

Plus, with my new job, I could walk to work now, no nead to drive
Yeah, I rotate my tires according to the manual, but don't do the rest, I want the tires to last for a while.

Oil and filters , do yourself! 5W20 is used in new cars like Honda civics and New Ford Focus'sssss. It supposed to get better mileage!!!!! Who knows? Dealers charge too much!

Is it true that the 1.6L 01 protege has no filter to replace? I just had my tranny fluid done and it was cheaper cuz there was no filter. "Flush and fill"
